The Next Step in Effective Communication

Every person brings their own perspective to a conversation, and when those perspectives clash, teams start to crack. This session gives teams the tools to understand each other's communication styles so that even the hardest conversations become manageable.

When people feel understood, even the hardest conversations become manageable.

About the talk

Some conversations are simply hard work. Every person comes to a conversation through their own unique perspective, and when those perspectives clash or are misunderstood, teams start to crack. The breakdown is rarely about intent. It is about not knowing how to meet others where they are. In this workshop, Chris helps teams identify the innate strengths each person brings to their communication, and how to use that understanding to make even the most challenging conversations manageable. Drawing on the DEEP process, participants learn how their own communication style lands with others, where the friction really comes from, and how simple shifts in approach can change the entire dynamic of a conversation. The transformation is from difficult to easy. Teams leave with a shared language for how they communicate, the ability to recognise what each person needs in the moment, and the confidence to work through problems with minimum effort and maximum focus. This workshop is customised to the specific needs of your organisation, because the communication challenges your team faces are unique, and the solutions should be too.

Key takeaways

Understand your own communication style and how it lands with others

Recognise what each person in your team needs in the moment

Turn difficult conversations into manageable, productive exchanges

Build a shared language across your team that reduces friction and builds trust

Create an environment where people feel heard, understood, and able to contribute fully

When people feel understood, even the hardest conversations become manageable. Communication does not break down because people lack intelligence or good intentions, it breaks down because everyone is working from a different set of assumptions about how the world works. When teams understand each other's natural strengths and styles, the friction reduces, the trust builds, and conversations that once felt impossible start to feel straightforward.
