Talks
Your career isn’t stuck - you’re playing by the wrong rules
Think you’re stuck in your career? You’re not. You’re just following the wrong rules. This talk will show you how to get noticed, grow your influence, and finally get the recognition you deserve. Are you working hard, hitting your goals, and still not getting the recognition or growth you deserve? You’re not alone – and you’re not broken. You’re just playing by rules that were never designed for you. In this talk, I’ll share the unspoken truths about career growth in tech, especially for women, introverts, and hidden leaders who feel like they’re doing everything “right” but still getting overlooked. From my experience as a Director of Engineering and now an executive coach for women in tech, I’ll walk you through what actually moves the needle – how to build visibility, influence decisions, and shape your path without selling your soul or burning out. You’ll get a practical and honest framework for driving your career forward on your terms – and stop waiting for permission to lead. This isn’t another “just be confident” pep talk. It’s a real conversation about what works, what doesn’t, and how you can start leading now – even if no one handed you the title yet.
Quietly Powerful: Leadership for the Ones Who Don’t Shout
You don’t have to shout to be heard. As an introverted woman in engineering leadership, I spent years trying to lead like someone I wasn’t - louder, tougher, constantly proving myself. It was exhausting… and unnecessary. In this talk, I’ll share how I stopped trying to fit the mold and started leading with clarity, calm, and quiet confidence, and how you can too. I’ll unpack the pressure so many tech leaders feel to perform leadership rather than live it, and offer a new, more sustainable path. Whether you’re introverted, overlooked, or just done with the noise, this talk will help you build influence, trust, and visibility without burning out or pretending to be someone you’re not. * Find out why “louder” isn’t the same as “stronger” in leadership, and how quiet confidence creates impact * Hear real stories from my journey as an introverted engineering leader trying to fit in (and finally leading on my terms) * Understand practical strategies to build trust, influence, and visibility without burning out or performing * Leverage a new, more inclusive model of leadership for anyone who’s ever felt like they didn’t belong in the spotlight
Your Systems Aren’t Stuck - Your Teams Are
Even the best DevOps teams hit slowdowns: rising incidents, unclear ownership, decision bottlenecks, and frustrated engineers. But the root cause is rarely the tools or the tech. It’s the leadership patterns shaping how teams communicate, align, and make decisions under pressure. In this talk, I’ll share the real organizational failure modes I’ve seen across 20+ years of leading distributed engineering orgs, including scaling Compute at DigitalOcean. We’ll unpack why hero culture, architectural ambiguity, and tactical management quietly break DevOps, and what high-performing teams do differently. Attendees will walk away with practical, lightweight frameworks to improve decision velocity, reduce cognitive load, and create the alignment needed to scale reliable systems without burning out their people.

About
I started my tech career as a software engineer and grew into Director of Engineering at DigitalOcean, leading platform and infrastructure teams and scaling organizations through high-stakes growth. Along the way, I learned that strong technical outcomes come from strong leadership patterns, not louder voices or bigger titles. Today, I speak about the shifts that help engineers become influential leaders and help teams operate with clarity, trust, and strategic impact.
